Sandblasting, also called abrasive blasting or media blasting, uses compressed air to drive abrasive media against a surface, cutting through rust, paint, mill scale, and contamination far faster than grinding or chemical stripping. It is the industry-standard first step before industrial painting, and often the only practical way to restore heavily corroded steel and equipment.

Coatings applied over poorly profiled or contaminated steel fail years early, which is why serious coating work starts with blasting to a specified standard. Our crews prepare surfaces to recognized SSPC/NACE profiles, from brush-off to near-white metal, so your coating system performs the way its manufacturer intended. Which blast media is right for my surface, and how do you choose?
Media selection is determined by the substrate, the coating being removed and the required surface finish. We use softer media for delicate surfaces and more aggressive media, such as crushed glass or garnet, for steel and heavy coatings. Our team evaluates the specific job conditions and selects the appropriate media to achieve the desired results without compromising the underlying surface.
Can you blast on site, or does everything go to your shop?
Our mobile blasting equipment allows us to perform the majority of projects directly at your facility anywhere in the Carolinas, Georgia, and beyond, minimizing the need to transport equipment or components off site.
How do you contain dust and media on an active plant floor?
We implement appropriate containment measures, including containment curtains, tarping and vacuum recovery, as required by the scope and conditions of the project. Prior to beginning work, we coordinate containment requirements with your safety team to ensure the appropriate controls are established and maintained throughout the project.
Will blasting warp thin sheet metal?
Aggressive blasting can. On thin stock we adjust media, pressure, and technique, or recommend dry ice or laser cleaning instead.
What surface profile can you hit for coating prep, and can you verify it?
We blast to specified profiles for coating systems and verify with profile testing when the spec calls for it.
Do you handle silica exposure compliance under the OSHA rules?
Yes. We follow the OSHA respirable silica rule, use non-silica media wherever possible, and run the required controls and PPE.
Can you blast inside tanks and confined spaces, and are your guys confined-space trained?
Yes. Confined space entry with permits, trained entrants, and attendants.
Can you remove lead paint, and how is that waste handled?
Projects involving lead-based paint require proper containment, worker protection and compliant waste management. Identifying lead-containing coatings upfront allows us to plan the appropriate controls and accurately scope the work needed.
How fast can you turn around structural steel for a coating crew behind you?
We schedule blasting just ahead of the coating crew so steel gets coated inside the profile window. Give us your schedule and we will plan around it.
What do you charge, by square foot or by the hour?
Pricing depends on the scope and production requirements. Production blasting is typically priced by the square foot, while smaller, complex, or mixed-scope projects are generally billed hourly. Following a site walkdown, we provide a firm quote based on the actual site conditions and work requirements.
